Continuing a Legacy in New England
We are excited to announce that we are sending a team to Worcester, Massachusetts next summer (2018) to begin the work of planting City Light Church.
With a population of nearly 200k, Worcester is the second largest city in New England next to Boston, but over 95% of the population lives in spiritual darkness.
48% do not identify with any organized religion.
38% identify as Catholic (most are non-practicing).
4.7% identify as Evangelical (of any denomination).
There are very few churches, and even fewer healthy churches in Worcester. In our target area, the east side of Worcester (the most populated zip code in the city), there is not a single gospel-preaching, disciple-making, church-planting church.
Our Vision
The vision of City Light Church is to overcome the darkness of New England with the light of the gospel, by helping people find and follow Jesus. We’ve taken Jesus’ words to Paul personally:
“I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me” (Acts 26:17-18).
And our goal is not just to plant one church in Worcester, but to start a gospel movement that makes disciples and establishes churches in all the major cities of New England, which will become hubs for further church planting and ministry in their surrounding areas (and beyond).
